Home cook, not a chef — and proud of it

Brilliantly Yum started as a way to share what actually gets cooked in a real home kitchen: dinners made after a long day, sauces built from scratch because the jarred stuff never quite does it, and the occasional cocktail or plate of apps when people come over. No culinary school, no professional kitchen — just a lot of practice, a lot of tasting, and a genuine love of making food that looks as good as it tastes.

"If it's not a little dramatic on the plate, we're not done yet."

Cooking across cuisines is half the fun — one night it's a slow-braised Sunday sauce, the next it's something with a lot more spice. The through-line is always the same: good technique, bold flavor, and food that's meant to be shared.

Cooking with the kids

The best part of all of this isn't the plating — it's the company.

Some of the best recipes on this site got their start standing at the counter with the kids — hands covered in flour, tasting spoons everywhere, more than a few messes along the way. Getting them involved in the kitchen has turned into one of our favorite family rituals, and a lot of what shows up here is built to be cooked together, not just served.

Expect kid-approved dinners, recipes simple enough to make as a team, and the occasional dessert that exists purely because someone under four feet tall requested it.

More of this, daily

Plating, process, and plenty of kitchen chaos — it all lives on Instagram first.
